Age Friendly Communities

Newport has become a member of the World Health Organisation’s global network for age friendly cities and communities.

“Newport values its older residents and recognises the challenges they may face as they age.

Newport’s initiative to become an Age Friendly City began with the signing of the Dublin declaration, which commits to enhancing the lives of older people. Officially committing in October 2023, the views of older adults regarding what matters to them as they age, and the domains of age friendliness were gathered to help shape Newport on it journey to becoming an age friendly city.” (World Health Organisation, 2024)
