Housing Support

Newport City Council – The Gateway

Newport City Council Housing Support Services provide advice, information and practical assistance for people who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or need support with housing issues. The service can help people access accommodation, prevent homelessness, maintain tenancies and find the support needed to live independently.

In addition to housing advice, support is available with benefits, budgeting, debt management, accessing health and social care services, and connecting with education, training and employment opportunities. The Housing Support Gateway can also help people access supported housing and other specialist services, ensuring individuals receive the right support to improve stability and wellbeing.

Home Options Newport

Home Options Newport helps people find affordable housing and access social housing opportunities. By registering and completing a housing application, eligible applicants can search and apply for available rental and shared ownership properties, giving them greater choice over where they live.

The service also provides access to housing advice and support through helpful resources covering accommodation, financial wellbeing, employment and support services. Home Options Newport is designed to support people in finding suitable housing and making informed decisions about their housing needs.

Mind in Gwent

Mind in Gwent Housing Support helps adults with mental health challenges find, maintain and enjoy safe, stable housing. Support is available for people living in their own homes as well as those who need supported accommodation. By offering personalised guidance and ongoing support, Mind in Gwent helps people build confidence, strengthen independence and become more connected to their local community.

Tai Pawb

Tai Pawb is a Welsh charity working to create a fairer and more inclusive housing system where everyone has access to a safe, secure and suitable home. The organisation champions equality and works to tackle the barriers, discrimination and disadvantages that can prevent people from accessing good quality housing.

Through training, resources, advocacy and partnership working, Tai Pawb supports housing providers, policymakers and communities to promote diversity and inclusion. Their work helps create housing environments where people from all backgrounds feel valued, respected and able to thrive.
