“There is a lot of excitement in around Ringland and Alway at the moment with the development of the 19 Hills Health and Wellbeing centre nearing completion. The new centre will have two existing GP Practices there; Ringland Medical Practice and Park Surgery alongside Ringland Dental Surgery.
It was very useful to go along to the community hub, situated next to the development this morning to chat with some of the staff from Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (and Newport City Homes), who will be delivering services from the new centre, including community dental care, immunisation services for children and services to support individuals and families with better mental and physical wellbeing.
For the health board this is about delivering a “a more integrated, preventative and community-orientated care model,” something I wholeheartedly support because this approach if done well, can take pressures of our hospitals locally.
Whilst speaking to Chloe from the Public Health team today, she also showed me the “Your Newport, Your Wellbeing” resource, which is an excellent website mapping all the different events and activities, which people might want to attend to better support their physical and mental health.
